Meadow View Place near Schaffer’s Mill, a new affordable housing community to be built near Truckee, was featured on the Lake Tahoe TV News over the weekend. This project is one of many similar affordable housing projects Mogavero Architects has designed for developer, Neighborhood Partners, LLC.
The Schaffer’s Mill workforce housing project would consist of a 56-unit apartment housing complex in the Schaffer’s Mill subdivision through funding from the State of California Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program (AHSC).
The AHSC program’s purpose is to help fund projects that support affordable housing and infrastructure programs that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, two main concerns of the Lake Tahoe community. The funding will also allow the Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit (TTART) to invest in four electric-powered buses to help expand transit services for area’s routes, including the necessary electric vehicle charging stations and maintenance infrastructure.
Meadow View Place will include 14 one-bedroom units, 28 two-bedroom units and 14 three-bedroom units, a community building with common areas, an outdoor patio and a small playground for children. The buildings will have rooftop solar panels to achieve zero-net-energy usage and help fulfill the projects commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
