Mogavero Architects is a Midtown Sacramento firm specializing in sustainable, community-focused urban design. We combine big-firm expertise with a collaborative, small-firm approach across multifamily, university, and institutional projects.

Mogavero Architects is seeking a highly organized, proactive Office Manager / HR & Operations Manager to oversee office operations and support HR functions in our dynamic firm. This hands-on role combines operational leadership, HR support, and occasional day-to-day office tasks, with the scope of responsibilities tailored based on experience.

The ideal candidate is an energetic, adaptable self-starter who is a strong communicator, comfortable managing people, and passionate about supporting our firm culture. You will help maintain a professional, efficient, and welcoming office environment, ensuring smooth operations and a positive workplace experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Office Management
  • Vendor Management
  • Corporate Insurance Administration
  • Human Resource Management: Strong Knowledge in Employment Law, Recruiting & Retention, Onboarding, Benefits, Employee Relations

Operations & Administration

  • Oversee and directs the work of all administrative and clerical staff
  • Oversee office systems, procedures, and vendor/service provider relationships
  • Building maintenance management
  • Support scheduling, meetings, and internal communications
  • Assist leadership and staff with administrative projects
  • Coordinate office events, celebrations, and team-building initiatives
  • Insurance administrator

HR & People Support

  • Manage onboarding, offboarding, and maintaining employee documentation
  • Coordinate benefits and open enrollment
  • Manage HR processes, policies, and compliance under
  • Serve as a resource for staff regarding HR-related questions
  • Maintain employee records

Hands-On & Leadership Balance

  • Perform basic office tasks as needed (phone coverage, coffee/office errands)
  • Lead projects and initiatives to improve office efficiency and team experience
  • Participate directly in operational or administrative tasks when needed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of office management or operations experience preferably in a professional services firm; candidates with 10+ years and strong HR experience are encouraged to apply
  • HR experience or exposure preferred (benefits, onboarding, employee documentation)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), PowerPoint, and Excel and are comfortable learning new programs.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign. is a plus
  • Comfortable managing others while also performing hands-on tasks
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $65,000 – $90,000/year depending on experience and HR expertise
