The Arbors at Oak Park breaks ground. Mayor Johnson addresses the crowd.

Over 150 people attended  the groundbreaking ceremony for The Arbors at Oak Park, a mixed-use, affordable multi-family project we designed that’s  located at the corner of Broadway and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.  Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson spoke about the importance of developing this catalyst site in the heart of Oak Park, which has seen many development proposals come and go.  In addition to the Mayor, several other speakers including Mike McKeever, SACOG’s Executive Director, commented the value that The Arbors at Oak Park brings to the central city by enhancing housing options close in while infilling a long vacant site.
The Arbors  includes 56 senior apartments,  community rooms, and 5,000 square feet of retail space at the corner of the site.  Construction is anticipated to be complete in the summer of 2013.
