Mercy Pedalers Collects Donations

Over the last couple of weeks Mogavero Architects’ staff has been collecting socks, toiletry products, scarfs, blankets, sleeping bags, tents, cash and homemade baked goods. We delivered our collection of items to Mercy Pedalers at an event held this morning in Cesar Chavez Park to donate to the homeless community in Sacramento. The event was well attended and the Mercy Pedalers staff was dressed in festive attire and led a parade of kazoo-ers around the park. Sister Libby Fernandez and the Mercy Pedalers staff and volunteers, with the help of KCRA’s Financial Expert Kelly Brothers, passed out donated items to homeless as they filled up donated backpacks and bags with much needed items. Mogavero Architects was happy to help collect items for the homeless community. Thank you to Mercy Pedalers for the work they do in our community and organizing such a worthy event.

Join Mogavero Architects for the 16th Annual Ride the Parkway

Mogavero Architects will be participating in the 16th Annual Ride the Parkway on Sunday, October 6, 2019. We’re proud to have been sponsors of the annual Ride the Parkway, supporting the American River Parkway Foundation (ARPF) since the ride’s inception 16 years ago. Riders will explore one of three routes on the American River Bike Trail, taking in the Parkway’s natural beauty along the way. After the ride, a BBQ at William B. Pond Park will feature lunch, local beer, live music, prizes, and bicycle vendors. Over the past 15 years, riders have raised more than $300,000 for Parkway improvements such as the restoration of areas burnt from fire, removal of non-native plants, and river cleanups to remove trash and debris. In 2018, the ARPF removed more 88,000 pounds of trash and 143,000 invasive plants from the Parkway, cleared 18 miles of the equestrian/hiking trail, and exposed 1,248 youth to the Parkway through their outdoor education program. The sponsorship of Ride the Parkway enables the ARPF staff and volunteers to ensure your Parkway is open and enjoyable for years to come. Come join us for a fun ride for a great cause! For more information on the event and to register, visit Ride the Parkway.

BIMx VR Experience

BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING (BIM) For more than a decade Mogavero Architects has used BIM technology to achieve a fully integrated design from all participants.  BIM technology facilitates teamwork in developing mock-ups of systems to test designs, identify synergistic opportunities and resolve potential conflicts. BIM benefits are: Three dimensional models provide clear visualizations of the design as it is being developed to fully communicate issues that are otherwise difficult to envision. The 3D BIM model has the ability to resolve space related conflicts between the architectural, structural, mechanical and plumbing systems prior to starting construction. BIM provides an integrated utility design that will substantially reduce the coordination time in the field and allow for more pre-fabrication opportunities. Our BIM model can be used by the subcontractors to produce shop drawings quickly and efficiently. The BIM model can be viewed and used at the job site trailer to quickly communicate complicated coordination discussions. The BIM model can be viewed in VR using the BIMx app and Google Cardboard allowing a rich, immersive experience of building design on iOS and Android smart phones. Get the app, download a model, and put your phone into our custom designed Cardboard and start the VR experience. Instructions below. You can navigate in the 3D space simply by turning your head in the desired direction. You will begin to walk if you tap the “walking person” icon in the top left corner. If you get lost, click the house icon in the top left corner. Midtown’s New Bike Lanes

In celebration of May is Bike Month our staff biked to Southside Park for a bike ride and picnic. On the way back the group rode the new separated bike lane on P Street. “It was awesome to be protected from the moving traffic. Hopefully the new lanes will allow more bikers to feel comfortable commuting daily.” — Renner Johnston, Mogavero Architects Principal Separated from vehicles on the road, these bikeways will allow people of all ages and levels to bike downtown. They will also improve pedestrian safety by increasing sight lines and reducing the number of travel lanes to cross. We need these all over town! Here’s a great diagram, courtesy of the City of Sacramento on how the new lanes work: For more details on how the new lanes work visit the City of Sacramento’s website: https://www.cityofsacramento.org/Public-Works/Transportation/Programs-and-Services/Bicycling-Program/Current-Projects

Ride the Parkway

A big thank you goes out to all riders, sponsors and volunteers for raising over $40,000 to benefit the American River Parkway Foundation! Mogavero Architects Principals Craig and Renner rode with 378 fellow cyclists September 10, 2017 to support the American River Parkway Foundation. The Foundation protects the “crown jewel” of Sacramento: a 30-mile bikeway along the scenic river from Old Town Sacramento to Folsom Lake. Participants biked between Folsom and Discovery Park, ending the ride with a BBQ, enjoying great food, beer and music with fellow supporters. Running through the center of the city, the American River Parkway is a wonderful, wide greenspace, and an incredible resource for everyone to enjoy. Mogavero Architects has sponsored Ride the Parkway and its predecessor “The Rex Ride” to benefit the protection of the parkway since its inception, about 14 years ago.

Maple Park Senior Apartments (Phase II): Grand Opening

“LIVE OAK, CALIFORNIA— On June 22, 2016 Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP), Regional Housing Authority of Sutter and Nevada Counties, and the City of Live Oak held a dedication ceremony for Maple Park Senior Apartments.” Click here to read more about Maple Park Senior Apartments on CHIP’s website. The dedication ceremony was a wonderful event with a focus on support to community and residents. Many senior residents were in attendance. The ceremony was held next to the courtyard with Ribbon Cutting at the front of the building. Many positive comments about the colors and integration into the community. Click here to read more about the celebration on CHIP’s website. Maple Park Phase II is a key component to the overall vision of renewed affordable housing for Live Oak. This completes a dynamic family development with a new senior housing component. Many families in Live Oak are tight knit and stay together. When the original housing was demolished there were some seniors who wanted to relocate back but had to wait until Phase II was completed. Now grandparents will be able to connect with grandchildren and stay active in a safe walkable neighborhood. Click here to select from Mogavero Architects’ Maple Park Staff Blogs.
